Netflix: Video Streaming Performance - Verizon FiOS #1;CenturyLink Leads DSL

In its previous reprots on US ISPs performance (latest one here) Netflix accumulated Verizon and AT&T DSL and FTTH services into one line.

Now, Ken Florance, Director of Content Delivery for Netflix, provides an update and "As promised, we’ve been able to separate AT&T and Verizon FTTx offerings from their DSL offerings. The chart now gives a fairly complete look at performance on top networks, with additional insight into how different technologies (DSL, Cable, FTTx) impact potential throughput"

The result is (see charts below - top one is the new report) that Verizon FiOS now leads the whole gang, but AT&T FTTX is lower than many MSOs. Charter continues to lead cable, and AT&T and Verizon (now that we see their Net-DSL results) are no longer leading the DSL section - the new leader is CenturyLink.

  1. Judging by the data presented here, Netflix has all the potential in the online world to lead the video streaming sector! All it has to do is swallow the competition and all's good to go!
