It for sometime that we see F5 going after the service provider market and searching for DPI technology. It started as a partnership with Procera (here); then there were rumors about an acquisition of Allot Communications (here and here - I recently heard that papers were ready to sign) and I even spotted a search for a DPI product manager (here).
Now it seems that it will come through in the BIG-IP product line. According to the service provider/telco/mobile business road map presented today (see some slides below) by Karl Triebes (pictured), CTO and SVP Product Development, a trial version for DPI will be ready next year and will be launched in 2013.
