Venezuela’s Movistar Deploys Volubill PCRF
Volubill announced today that it "has been selected by Venezuela’s Movistar to deploy a charging and policy solution. The solution will enable the operator to create new commercial services and market segmentation for the overall 3G market including more granular pricing models and highly targeted service offerings " - here
Customer win announcements in the traffic management space (either for policy server or policy enforcement/DPI deployments) are still rare - but today we get one, with a quote from Movistar CIO, Gustavo Reyes "Another critical factor in our decision was the common vision that we share with Volubill in how data and broadband services can be made profitable whilst still ensuring the customer experience is exceptionally good.”
Movistar, "with more than 4 million mobile data subscribers is the largest mobile operator in Venezuela". The provider is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Telefonica Moviles group.
The group has implemented DPI solutions from Sandvine, that may be integrated with the new Volubill PCRF solution. See "Sandvine - Who is the Global DSL/Mobile Cusotmer with 20 Properties ?" - here.
