Savvius Adds Application Classification with Procera's DPI

Procera Networks announced that its "Network Application Visibility Library (NAVL) has been selected by Savvius .. to deliver real-time, application-aware network capture and analysis for the latest versions of its Omnipliance hardware and OmniPeek software solutions.

Visualizing, analyzing and troubleshooting performance bottlenecks – Savvius embeds Procera’s NAVL software engine into all of its products: Omnipliance hardware, OmniPeek software and the recently introduced Savvius Vigil security forensics appliance. This integration allows its customers to classify applications in real time and gather information to better understand what is going on in the network.

Napatech and ipoque Partner to Assist Network Equipment Vendors

Napatech and ipoque announced a ".. joint mission to improve quality of experience (QoE) in mobile networks using commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) servers.

Napatech and ipoque are working together to provide high-speed, real-time application insight into LTE networks supporting voice and video services .. Napatech and ipoque are currently engaged with key customers in deploying these capabilities today.

Napatech and ipoque will assist network equipment vendors to accelerate the identification, measurement and analysis of video and VoLTE services at high speed, under any conditions, with high reliability. The joint solution will combine the power of Napatech’s real-time network processing with ipoque’s application recognition software up to Layer 7, which is critical for traffic steering of time sensitive VoLTE & video apps".

Napatech and Qosmos Show Deeper DPI @10 Gbps

Napatech and Qosmos announced ".. a new 10 Gbps DPI platform .. The 10 Gbps metadata demo combines Qosmos DPI capabilities with Napatech intelligent network adapters to provide rich, real-time input for big data analysis of network and application usage:

  • Qosmos’ ixEngine software extracts protocol and application metadata, enabling insight into network transactions and patterns of user behavior. Developers use Qosmos ixEngine to enable service classification and metadata extraction in their applications. IxEngine can extract more than 6,000 different types of metadata, such as file and application usage, application performance, traffic volume and content.

Napatech 40 GbE Adapter
  • Napatech provides intelligent network adapters that guarantee real-time delivery of data at speeds from 1 to 40 Gbps. Napatech adapters provide layer 1-4 flow recognition, including tunneling protocols commonly used in mobile networks, such as GTP. Intelligent distribution can direct these flows to up to 32 server CPU cores. When combined with a standard server and DPI software, Napatech enables rapid development of high-performance appliances".

Napatech Looks Inside Mobile Tunnels (w/IPv6 Support)

Napatech announced " .. new tunneling protocol support that provides increased visibility for monitoring and management of mobile networks .. The new tunneling protocol support will perform flow identification and intelligent distribution based on the contents of tunnels rather than on the tunnel itself. Mobile subscriber traffic is transported in tunnels, such as GTP, through the core network. It is therefore important to monitor and analyze the contents of tunnels and base management decisions on this information .. Napatech will provide support for GPLS Tunneling Protocol (GTP) and IP-in-IP tunneling for both IPv4 and IPv6 networks .. The tunneling support features will be available in April 2013".

Erik Norup (pictured), President and CMO, Napatech said: “Our equipment vendor customers need to analyze all data on the mobile network to build a picture of what is happening .. IP-in-IP will become increasingly important as we make the transition from IPv4 to IPv6 .. There is therefore a need to transport IPv4 over IPv6 and vice versa. There will even be a need for IPv4 tunneling via IPv4 networks where only a limited number of IPv4 addresses are available. With our tunneling support we can ensure that the same picture is provided no matter the type of network you are using”.
