A new white paper by
Graham Finnie (pictured), Chief Analyst,
Heavy Reading (commissioned by
Qosmos), "The Role of DPI In An SDN World" shows that "
DPI is destined to play an even larger role as software defined and other virtualized networking environments emerge".
According to Finnie - “
SDN and DPI have similar objectives. Simply put, DPI seeks to make the network application-aware, while SDN seeks to make applications network-aware .. DPI is likely to be at least as important in an SDN as it is today [see chart]
, and making the right decisions about where and how to deploy it is among the more important choices the industry faces”.
