A new survey by Stéphane Téral (pictured), principal analyst for mobile and FMC infrastructure, Infonetics Research on planned LTE deployments finds "11% of respondents are deploying LTE as a greenfield network" and "suggests that they are using LTE for a purpose other than a true mobile broadband upgrade, such as a DSL replacement".
In addition "Close to 2/3 of operators don’t know when they will trial LTE-Advanced (aka true 4G), although 5% are already testing the technology and 16% plan to trial LTE-Advanced in 2013"
Infonetics "interviewed 19 incumbent, competitive, and mobile operators about their LTE network build-out plans, deployment migration scenarios, challenges, technical and commercial drivers, and the LTE services, features, and devices they plan to offer"
