ALU CEO: "People will pay for value"

Alcatel-Lucent's CEO, Ben Verwaayen (pictured), was interviewed during MWC by Globes reporter Gad Peretz (here, Hebrew).

Among other things, Mr Verwaayen told Globes "This industry needs the 4th generation. operators, regulators, consumers - they all need it. The industry has to understand that people will pay, for example, for security, location based services, analytic - or in short anything that changes the dumb pipe into a smart pipe. Just the ability to communicate and transfer bits is not enough. You need value".

"I pay for my Paris' home alarm service $100/month - wouldn't I pay 10% of that to protect my iPad? - it has all my account numbers and credit card codes!"
