From what I gather a lot of the other RSS readers piggyback on Google Readers APIs - so that might explain why so many of your readers seem to be using it.
ReplyDeleteThat's true - I use myself an iPAD app that uses the Google API.
ReplyDeleteAs far as I understand, closing the reader means closing the whole service related to RSS. Probably also the one I use to feed the RSS from my blog ("feedburner”).
I've shifted already to something called "Tiny Tiny RSS" which I run on my own virtual server. As far as I know it doesn't rely on Google so should continue to work after July 1st...
