DPI Deployments (76): Skylink [Russia] Uses Cisco for Traffic Control and Personalization

Cisco announced that "Mobile operator SkyLink has completed modernization of its Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) and migrated data traffic to Cisco ASR 5000 intelligent platform in the Moscow Region. For the first time in Russia the project will enable the operator to expand the functionality of filtering, distribution, prioritization and management of traffic and quality of services (QoS).

See "SkyLink Completed Modernization of its Packet Core Network in Moscow" - here.

".. support for packet core functions (SGSN and GGSN) for 2G/3G networks and LTE (full support for MME, SGW and PGW) together with integrated service functions (deep packet inspection, traffic management, optimization of transport protocols, etc.) will provide the operator with the capabilities of detailed control, flexible tariffs and management of user sessions which, in its turn, will help to develop existing and introduce new personalized services at minimal cost and to expand LTE-ready network infrastructure"
