Ericsson sent me a clarification regarding its recent announcement of SASN (DPI) integration into the SSR 8000 compared to the previous DPI features the SSR had since it was launched (see my earlier post - "Ericsson Adds DPI and Wi-Fi to SSR 8000" - here):
"The solution launched now is SASN, the standalone highly specialized application that Ericsson has for traffic inspection, traffic management, DPI and policy enforcement. This application can be deployed in fixed, mobile or wifi networks.
The application launched in 2012 on SSR was EPG (Evolved Packet Gateway), the mobile gateway which also has dpi and policy enforcement integrated capabilities"
