F5 PEM Has DPI - Made by Qosmos

Qosmos DPI Engine
Last week F5 announced its new DPI/Policy enforcement product (PEM - see "F5 Announces DPI; 320Gbps/Chassis" - here). The day before,  Light Reading was wondering (here) if the product does have DPI inside.

According to the announcement by Qosmos - there is no doubt - F5 has DPI!

F5 has "embedded Qosmos’ ixEngine within their BIG-IP Policy Enforcement Manager (PEM). Qosmos ixEngine generates real-time, application intelligence which is used by the PEM to analyze application traffic and subscriber behavior, enhancing traffic policing rules for mobile service providers".

Calvin Rowland (pictured), VP Technology and ISV Alliances at F5 said: "Operators are looking for solutions to manage network costs while creating new service plans for their subscribers .. The Qosmos ixEngine gives F5’s BIG-IP Policy Enforcement Manager the ability to classify traffic and provide operators with greater subscriber and application visibility into their core network for traffic monitoring and performance optimization”.

F5 joins a nice list of OEMs announced by Qosmos recently - Clavister (here), Polystar (here) and PROTEI (see "PROTEI Selected Qosmos' Engine for its DPI Solution" - here).
