Optimization Deployments (49): XL [Indonesia] Uses Mobixell for Data Traffic Optimization

 

Mobixell announced that "PT XL Axiata Tbk, known as XL, a leading mobile operator in Indonesia, has deployed Mobixell's Seamless Access as its converged data traffic management solution. XL chose Seamless Access to consolidate its mobile services into a single platform solution to perform all data traffic optimization, Web acceleration, and mobile video optimization functionalities".

XL has 41M subscribers. Mr. Rudy Wiryadi, VP IT Development and Operation of XL said: "Mobixell's solutions will ensure that we continue to provide excellent mobile user experience, as the popularity of feature phones and smart phones continues to grow".

RIM Required to Provide Web Filtering In Indonesia

     

RIM, the Canadian mobile phone manufacturer, is required by the Indonesian regulator to prevent its 2M phone users in the country from accessing web sites featuring adult content.

According to Sue Ling Chan and Femi Adi from BusinessWeek  "RIM has until Jan. 21 to begin filtering porn sites or face legal action including revocation, Communication and Information Technology Minister Tifatul Sembiring told reporters in Jakarta today"

"RIM is in talks with domestic phone carriers to find a “prompt, compliant filtering solution" ... the maker of the BlackBerry said in a statement today .. The government will meet with RIM and six mobile-service providers Jan. 17 to ask them to filter out pornographic websites, Muhammad Budi Setyawan [pictured], director general of post and telecommunications at the ministry, said today by phone. The ministry is targeting pornography, not RIM, as most Indonesian providers block such sites, he said"

Ericsson announced last week that Telkomsel is using its solution for "Dynamic End-to-End Policy Control solution enabling service differentiation"

Telkomsel, a subsidiary of state owned PT TELKOM, the PSTN incumbent (65%) and SingTel Mobile (35%), is the biggest mobile operator in Indonesia, with 82M subscribers (end of Q1), of which 2M are post-paid subscribers. Telkomsel operates over 32,000 base stations
 "Telkomsel's efficient utilization of radio and transport networks will be enhanced through deployment of the policy control solution. .. Data traffic is prioritized so that higher-paying subscribers get access, high speed and quality even during network peak hours, while other users receive different priority".
