DPI Deployments [361]: AccessKenya Selected Procera

Procera Networks and XON, the Pan-African ICT group announced that "AccessKenya, the leading and most reliable converged Communication and IT infrastructure service provider in East Africa, has selected Procera’s subscriber management solution (based on PacketLogic 8820) to replace an incumbent installation and deliver next generation subscriber experience management solutions to meet the region’s growing demand for high-touch IT services.

Due to an antiquated system becoming un-operational, AccessKenya needed to source a replacement for their subscriber management and provisioning system. The PL8820 was a natural fit meeting several key criteria which where critical to AccessKenya’s needs, including:

  • Multi-tenant support for enterprise clients, providing an enhanced interface to manage their own bandwidth and filtering specific services
  • Replacement of current subscriber statistical interface with an extended statistical interface and information
  • Provisioning mechanism to allow easy provisioning of new subscribers to subscriber manager and support their corporate customer management processes

Before Procera Disappears from the Public Eye

With the public tender for Procera Networks stock (see "Procera to be Acquired for $11.50/Share (Current Price $9.51)" - here and here), Q1 is probably the last quarter in which we get the financial results of the 3 leading pure-play DPI vendors.

So, let's enjoy it while we can ..

Q1 2015 market share is very similar to full 2014. Sandvine leads, and Allot Communications shows a small decline.

Procera filling to the SEC for Q1 (here), disclosed that "For the three months ended March 31, 2015, revenue from Itochu Techno-Solutions Corp. represented 14% of net revenue, British Telecommunications plc represented 13% of net revenue, and revenue from Shaw Communications, Inc. and one other customer each represented 11% of net revenue with no other single customer accounting for more than 10% of net revenue. For the three months ended March 31, 2014, no customer accounted for more than 10% of net revenue".

The competitors are Procera (based on the Vineyard Networks acquisition), ipoque .. We own 70% of the market.  we adjust our pricing proposal to the different  cases of our partners.

[According to Procera's 2014 annual reports [here], "NAVL revenue contributed $3.6 million in product revenue and $0.8 million in support revenue for the year ended December 31, 2014 compared to $1.7 million in product revenue and $0.9 million in support revenue for the year ended December 31, 2013"]

Thibaut indicates 2 areas of new development:
  • SDN/NFV/ Service chaining such as the Classifier (see "Qosmos Launches a Standards-based Service Classifier (2300+ Protocols and Metadata) - here)
