Mellanox Launches Programmable Adapter (Offloads DPI)

Mellanox Technologies announced the "ConnectX®-4 Lx Programmable adapter to enable public and private clouds, Web 2.0 infrastructures, telecommunications, and high-performance computing infrastructures to achieve the highest performance and maximum flexibility.

The ConnectX-4 Lx Programmable adapter provides users with the maximum flexibility to offload CPU utilization by migrating portions of their data processing logic to an on-board Xilinx FPGA [10/40Gb/s FPGA as ‘bump-on-the-wire’], while taking advantage of Mellanox network controller’s hardware-based application accelerations, unmatched scalability and efficiency.

The ConnectX-4 Lx Programmable adapter can be used to accelerate a wide range of network applications, including Security, Deep Packet Inspection, Compression/Decompression, High-Frequency Trading and many more. Thus, it optimizes and achieves the highest performance in modern data centers, private and public clouds, Web 2.0 infrastructure, telecommunications and high-performance computing".

Join Us at IMA's 7th 4G Israel Event

This year I was honored to join IMA 4G Israel event's advisory board, and would like invite everyone to attend the one day conference, in Tel Aviv, on January 9th.

4G Israel is the largest wireless technology event in Israel, attracting hundreds of thought-leaders and decision-makers from across the country. The conference program provides a vertical view – from business and technology to infrastructure and applications, with case studies of deployments and monetization models.

Among the speakers this year are two of my frequently mentioned industry analysts - Dean Bubley (here), Founder of Disruptive Analysis and Shira Levin (here), Directing Analyst Service Enabelment & Subscriber Intelligence Infonetics Research.  Both will provide their views on the industry and opportunities for MNOs in the LTE era.

Other speakers are from Sprint, Partner (Orange) Israel, Merrill Lynch, NSN, Ericsson, F5, Alactel-Lucent and Mellanox - including a keynote by Dr. Ron Marquardt, VP Technology, Sprint.

DPI Announcements: Radisys Adds 40GE Controller for Intel DPDK; Uses Mellanox Technology

ConnectX®-3 EN Dual-Port
10 and 40 Gigabit Ethernet Adapters
with PCI Express 3.0

Radisys Corporation announced a ".. single 40 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) controller solution for the Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel® DPDK). Radisys’ 40G solution enhances the Intel® DPDK beyond its current 10G functionality, delivering the high throughput. The 40G DPDK solution enables Telecom Equipment Manufacturers (TEMs) to significantly lower their cost-per-bit for Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and security applications. In addition, by leveraging native 40G support, TEMs can reduce overall complexity and simplify their application development, shortening development time by up to 24 months".

"The Radisys 40G driver uses Mellanox ConnectX-3 NICs and is ported to both the Radisys ATCA-XE100 and ATCA 4600 compute blades"

Andrew Alleman (pictured), vice president, platform engineering, Radisys  said: "Our solution provides TEMs with a scalable solution with true 40G performance, making this an ideal solution for a variety of form factors from ATCA, Rackmount Servers and Network Appliances, and even to software"
